From time to time we get asked to "Add module X" to an existing user as most staff are unaware of how permissions in iSAMS are configured. While we can clone the basic level of permissions within the Control Panel, it means having to go through several modules in very fine detail (Student Manager and Medical Centre being two key examples) in order to replicate all of those permissions manually, leading to frustration among colleagues who find they've got reduced access at the worst possible time.
With that in mind, when cloning a Security Group display a revised dialog box:
COPY SECURITY PROFILE
Are you sure you want to copy the security profile?
To copy just the basic permissions within the Control Panel click CP Only
To copy all permissions across all modules click All Modules
Alternatively, click Cancel
Then show then three buttons described and complete the action selected by the user, displaying the next stage as currently.
A potential further step on from this (or alternative) would be to retain the existing dialog box with the Yes/No options, but on the next screen add a set of tick boxes for "Copy Granular Permissions from:" and list the modules below, so they could take Student Manager but not Medical Centre. Tick all by default.
