We activate our new pupils on iSAMS before they actually start. In particular, once rollover has occurred, the new starters for September will be active on the system, even though their start date is some weeks ahead.
This should allow staff to get on with administrative tasks without forcing a bottleneck to occur at the start of term.
However, the Future Absence section in the Registration Manager module, only allows you to search for pupils who are both current and have a start date on or before today. That means we cannot enter future absences for the new pupils even though we already know when they will not be at school.
It would greatly help administrative processes if, once pupils are current on the system, future absences can be entered for them, regardless of their start date.
