During the Roll Over, schools are able to populate a future form but not a future year group. The latter would be most helpful, especially at multi-campus sites where the year groups do not necessarily follow sequentially. Plus, there are some scenarios (especially in independent schools) whereby pupils skip a year or, repeat a year.
this is our first rollover and to find this doesn't exist has absolutely baffled me! (a preview year would be best but obviously we aren't getting that) this is the only way I can see of grabbing information for deputes etc before they go on holiday in June (Scotland) to actually make informed decisions on next year classes/houses, these are surely secondary to having a list of all pupils in all years (minus leavers, add all applicants). I had to make an offline list which I'm sure you can imagine, just causes even more work.
We'd want this as well. I'd be happy with the default being that pupils move to the next year group (Year 1 pupils go into Year 2, etc.), but we'd want to be able to overrule this if and where necessary on a pupil by pupil basis.
Instead of a Kindergarten we have two years of Nursery, not every Nursery pupil moves up to the second year of Nursery in the September, some move up later. During the rollover they all move up, then we have to move some back, we can't see a way round this unless we could specify a Future Year Group for the ones initially staying in the younger Nursery year group.
Some schools may have pupils that repeat a year, so specifying their year group pre-Rollover would again be helpful.
Interesting feature for multicampus or multi-curricula schools where year groups are not always sequential. This is very common in our schools.
