Becuase our student ID numbers in iSAMS are longer than 11 digits, when we export them to use in other systems like PowerBI, etc., Excel always insists on converting them to Scientific Notation format, which cannot be prevented, which leads to unnecessary work at our end converting the numbers after export.
We could avoid this conversion if the ID numbers were shorter than 11 digits, but there is no way to ask iSAMS to use shorter numbers.
Other student MIS's have a 'Start From' feature, where ID numbers can be allocated starting from a number we specify and it would then allocate any 'free' number starting from that one. This would help us avoid this issue.
(And even better would be a way, once this idea was implemented, to 'renumber' our ID numbers to conform to this new standard.)
