When an enquiry or registration form is created the schools option is automatically created. This is not a configurable settings.
The schools option allows parents to select a school name from one on the list. However, if the school isn't on the list (or the parent simply can't find it), they can add the school to the list. When the application is accepted, this school is added to the Other Schools module.
We have ended up with duplicate schools on our system as a result of this, mostly due to trivial differences in spelling, the exclusion/inclusion of 'the' at the start of the school name, or differences in handling 'Saint' vs 'St'.
Instead of allowing parents to add a new school directly to iSAMS, we should provide a separate screen for them to enter these details so that it can be explicitly flagged to the Admissions team that a parent has entered a new school. This can then be reviewed for correctness, since there are times when it is indeed appropriate to add a new school. If it's not required, it should be easy for the Admissions team to select an existing school from the Other Schools module.
This should allow us to better manage our Other Schools data.
