Report Request Updates

When requesting a new report or an amendment to a report within iSAMS, it would be extremely beneficial to receive live updates on the progress of the work being carried out.

While an expected completion date is useful, there is currently very little communication between the point at which the request is filed for development and when the final report is delivered. If a report is delayed and not ready by the expected completion date, users are left without sufficient notice to make alternative arrangements or adjust plans accordingly.

To improve visibility and communication, I would suggest introducing a live progress timeline within report request/amendment tickets. This could highlight key development stages, for example:

  • Filed for development

  • Work started

  • Work 50% complete

  • Work 75% complete

  • Work complete

In addition, a live status indicator could provide clearer expectations, such as:

  • On time – report expected by the completion date (e.g. 12th June)

  • Ahead of schedule – report expected before the completion date

  • Delayed – report expected after the completion date

This would provide greater transparency throughout the development process, help users manage expectations more effectively, and allow sufficient time to make contingency plans if delays occur.

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

We did look into the feasibility of implementing this, however the amount of work required to provide this level of detail meant it wasn't viable.

Estimating how much of the report had been developed etc is a completely manual task and as such adding this onto the developers workloads, would mean less reports being developed in the same time.

We did introduce an email process that told customers when work has begun on their report itself, however this caused more confusion and as such was removed.

Please feel free however to request an update on the development of your report at any point in time and if we feel we may not be able to hit your deadline for whatever reason, we will reach out to you as soon as possible to let you know.

    Regards

    Joe
