At present, the name for any register or register element is limited to 50 characters. While this is sufficient in many cases, there are scenarios where longer, more descriptive names are required to provide meaningful detail and clarity.
This limitation prevents us from capturing more granular information about our students. In practice, element names are either truncated mid-sentence or abbreviated, which reduces clarity and relies on staff understanding internal shorthand.
Increasing the character limit would allow for clearer, more descriptive naming conventions, improving usability, consistency, and accuracy in how student data is recorded and interpreted.
