Currently, Every HR only accepts 7-digit Teacher Reference Numbers (TRNs), in line with the guidance provided by the Department for Education. However, teachers in Scottish schools are issued with 6-digit TRNs, which means their reference numbers cannot be entered into the system without modification.
As a result, we are unable to record Scottish TRNs accurately, which does not provide a true reflection of staff data within the system.
Could the system be enhanced to support both 6-digit and 7-digit TRNs, allowing schools in Scotland to enter teacher reference numbers in their correct format while maintaining compatibility with existing requirements for schools in England and Wales?
This change would improve data accuracy and ensure the system better supports schools across all UK nations.
