In the Pupil/Student Manager > Management Options tab is a configuration field called "Minimum ADM Year".
The Admissions module respects the setting of that field such that on setting up a new prospective pupil the dropdown list of entry academic years starts with the specified minimum year.
However, the Add Pupil tab of Student Manager itself ignores the minimum year setting when you are adding a "Not yet arrived" student, and starts the dropdown list for possible entry academic years at next academic year (per screenshot below). This means it is not possible to add a prospective student for later in the current academic year via this route; but you can add a new student as current with any entry year.
iSAMS Support tell me that this arbitrary choice, that it is not possible to add a new student for the current year without making them 'live' from the outset, is "by design" hence the need to submit an Idea to get it fixed...
We request that Student Manager is made to work consistently with the Admissions module and use the 'Minimum ADM Year' configuration field provided for just this purpose, instead of assuming that a prospective student can only be for the next academic year onwards.
