Restore Vertical Display & Full Lesson Visibility in Cover Manager Timetable

Problem Overview

A recent interface update in Cover Manager changed how multiple lessons per period are displayed for teachers. Previously, lessons were stacked vertically with full details visible for each class. In the current layout, lessons are compressed and arranged horizontally side-by-side.

Impact on Daily Operations

  • Loss of Critical Details: Due to horizontal truncation, essential information—such as subject code, room number, teaching group, or specific lesson notes—is cut off and illegible at a glance.

  • Increased Administrative Friction: Cover administrators must repeatedly click into individual entries, or open separate screens just to confirm which specific lesson requires coverage.

  • Risk of Cover Errors: Curtailed lesson cards increase the likelihood of assigning cover to the wrong split class, room, or subject.

Suggested Solution

  • Return to Vertical Stacking: Display multiple lessons within the same period as full-width vertical entries beneath one another rather than squashing them horizontally.

  • Text Wrapping / Expandable Cells: Ensure timetable cells automatically wrap or adapt height so all key lesson identifiers (class, room, subject) remain completely visible without manual intervention.

  • User Display Toggle (Alternative): If horizontal compact view is preferred by some users, provide an option in user preferences/table settings to switch between "Compact (Horizontal)" and "Expanded (Vertical / Full Details)".

Vote for this feature if you manage daily cover and need instant, error-free visibility of teacher timetables without truncated cards!
